Our story

Since 1977, Hampshire Trust Bank (HTB) has been dedicated to supporting the financial needs of individuals, businesses and communities across the UK.

Our journey began in the market town of Fareham, Portsmouth, with a small but ambitious team offering mortgage services to the local community.

In 2014, a new management team, backed by Alchemy Partners, revitalised HTB, transforming it into the award-winning bank known today. We focus on investing in those often overlooked by mainstream banks, providing tailored lending in property-based finance, specialist mortgages, bridging finance, development finance and even offering finance to other wholesale lenders.

HTB is authorised by the FCA and PRA for customer deposits and backed by the FSCS (Financial Services Compensation Scheme), earning the trust of over 100,000 savers – including individuals, businesses and charities. Today, we manage over £4.5 billion in savings and, in 2024 alone, lent over £3.5 billion to British businesses, as well as individuals.
